  • New Year – New Hoop

For night time play and performances, I like to use an LED hoop. Well, I don’t make LED hoops and often get asked where to purchase one. There are so many great companies who make quality products. But I just bought an Astral Hoop Atomic Pro because I saw one at HoopCamp and it blew my mind!!! Check out their website and buy one of their hoops!!
And if you do, please use this code: http://astralhoops.com/r/Hoopanista.
Sort of like saying, “Tell them I sent you!”

I need to tip my hat to LED Heady Hoops for my very first LED hoop. I have since gifted that hoop to another hooper. I purchased my next two Trick Concepts hoops through The Spinsterz. Those are my workhorses. They go camping with me and have been to Burning Man twice. If you’re considering an LED, do your research and talk to other hoopers before making your choice. It’s a personal and exhilarating step in the hooping world.

What’s a fun, interactive gift that DOESN’T require batteries?  A hoop, of course!

My hoops will be at two holiday bazaars this weekend so check ’em out.

    December 4th
    11 am – 5 pm

The holidays are here! Everything is handmade and I will be selling hoops. 10% of proceeds to go the Sunnyside Environmental School.

Hoops will run from $25 to $45 depending on the materials used. I also make deals on multiples and I hope to have a tie-in with my classes that start in January. It should be fun!

I will also be “weather & scuff resisting” hoops on site for an additional $5. I use a clear vinyl to cover any hoop and it will keep the rain at bay so you can play with them outside AND the clear layer will prevent color marks on your floors and walls when you hoop inside.

    Hope to see you there.

  • Selling Hoops at Holiday Arts & Crafts Bazaars

Date: 2010.11.14 | Category: HulaHoopla, The Hoops - Of Course | Response: 0

This is my year of trying all possible avenues for selling hoops, teaching classes, reaching as many people as possible to figure out my place in this hooping life. My mind is open and I know I need to be flexible. However, I’ve been jumping in with both feet hoping for a good outcome and sometimes it is a financial setback. But how would I know unless I tried?

Right now I’m beginning to see that selling hoops at arts & crafts-focused holiday bazaars before Thanksgiving may not be the best plan. I don’t think folks are in that search-for-a-unique-gift mode yet. That will come closer to the gift-giving events when the shopping list gets longer and the panic sets in. :-)

I did create a great way to display hoops using portable and collapsible clothing racks and I now wrap my hoops with cling wrap to protect them from the weather, dirt and scrapes. The hoops can be test-driven with joy without worry of damage. Big relief!

On a very positive note, I did get to perform on stage at one of the Masonic lodges that hosted a bazaar to a very appreciative audience and met some amazing belly dancers and may be able to teach classes at that very lodge in January. Networking can be just as valuable as selling hoops.

    Rain Hoops

    Rain Hoops

As a Pacific Northwestern Hooper, I’ve developed an all-weather hoop for all-weather hooping!  I test drove these beauties while playing in the rain during a Sunday Parkways event.  It was cold, wet and muddy and when I got home with my hoops, I simply wiped them off – no damage done!

And I have the hoops to take you to the next level of fandom (thanks to Jessie for that awesome word!). My husband’s enthusiasm for college sports sparked the idea for creating school color themed hoops for tailgating, rallies, events and flat out fun. Work off the BBQ & beer during those tailgater parties! I’ll even make special deals on party packs (5 or more hoops) and weatherproofing for outdoor events. Woo hoo(p)!
